Tell Your Story
Why Your Story Matters
At some point in our lives, each of us will encounter the long-term care system—whether through a friend, a neighbor, a loved one, or through our own personal journey. These moments can be among the most profound and intimate experiences we face.
That’s why the DC Coalition on Long Term Care exists. Our members—advocates, providers, caregivers, and consumers—care deeply about how people engage with long-term care. We believe that every story holds power: the power to influence change, shape policy, and ensure that people can age with dignity while workers are respected for the essential services they provide.
Your experience can help us advocate more effectively with elected officials and healthcare leaders. Whether you choose to remain anonymous or are open to having your name shared, your story can strengthen our case and amplify our collective call for better care.
Together, our voices are not just a drumbeat—they are an army of drummers moving policy, perception, and purpose forward. Share your story. Help us build a system that reflects the dignity of aging with grace.
“I never thought much about long term care and when I did I thought it was mostly about the elderly. Last year, while running in Rock Creek Park I was hit by a car and I needed a home health aide for six months. I could not have managed without the support the aides and the providers gave me.”
